Anyone using wheel spacers?

I've been thinking about getting a set for one reason. I find that my Samurai is brutal when driving through snow on the roads. Because other cars have a wider wheel base, the narrow stance of the Zuk pulls all over the place when it hits the tracks set by other cars! I figure if I can widen it a bit, it may help. Plus, the front hubs should be protected more from debris and rocks, off road. ANyone who's got them on, I'd like to hear your thoughts :->
Thanks!
Steve

Re: Anyone using wheel spacers?

Unless you have an expensive set of wheels you want to use, you are better off $$ wise to just order a set of American Racing steel wheels with the back space you want. Any dealer can get them in with their normal shipment in about two weeks and should be no shipping charge. They run around $45 - $55 bucks each here at the local Western Auto.

Re: Anyone using wheel spacers?

Problem is that manufactured wheels do not come with backspacing less than 3.5", which is stock Samurai. In fact, most aluminum wheels only go down to 3.75" BS which puts them tighter in that stock Samurai BS.

Wheel spacers work excellent. They are not cheap. One reason we like tham is that you can use them with steel or aluminum wheels. Of course, for less money, you can get some custom backspaced wheels with an additional stance width of 1.5" on each side and in various designs.

Hemo,
I run the petroworks wheels and I stand 3" wider than stock. I like them a lot.

Re: Anyone using wheel spacers?

Hey, Studly,

I just checked Summit Racing's web-site - no rockcrawler wheels there! What's up with that?
