Re: underhood storage

As an alternative, you could use an army surplus ammo can. I had one mounted were the jack use to be (PS resevoir is there now). Its a great location, the only draw back is the sound of bouncing tools every time you hit a good bump.

Those plastic battery boxes from wal-mart work pretty good but you might need to fram up a little mount.

Re: underhood storage

I just used an old Ammo Box also located opposite of side of the battery it works really well. I have so much crap in the ammo box it can’t rattle. One note make sure it is fully closed before you close the hood otherwise you get a nice reverse dent so to say.

Now I just need to add a couple more maybe behind the rear seat of my hardtop.

Re: underhood storage

I just keep a plastic tool box from WalMart opposite the battery. I don't bolt it in so I can take it out easily. The plastic muffles the rattling tools too.

Re: underhood storage

I used an .50 Cal ammo storage box mounted outboard of the brake cylinder. It's good because it's waterproof, tough and can be modified easily to be secured with a padlock. I actually screwed mine right in to eliminate rattles but I mounted rubber grommets (and silicone to seal) between the box and the wheel well. This gives it a little shock mounting from the Sami's rough ride. I find that stuffing the box full of ropes, tie downs, and rags that the tools stay stationary.

A great solution in my opinion as what better place to store tools than under the hood where you'll need them. Not to mention that bit of empty space.

Re: underhood storage

I built the back in. About a foot behind the front seats to the gate is flat with wood and carpet on top. Going down to the floor from this flat area is wood and carpet with speakers pointing front. I work in the city and carry tools and such and dont want any one to break in. Easy access to get to them, all you do is unlock the tail gate and wala your tools and such. I also have a box under the hood i think i got it at wal mart. If i take the top off all is safe and it looks like a truck with black carpet all the way across the back. Makes the zook a versital lil beast!
