Question for LGL_LMIT

How's it going Jay? I read one of your posts a couple of days ago regarding t-cases. You said you removed the center ball bearing between the shifter forks and now you can run 2-low. Do you mean, that's all there is to it? Does that give you a "split-H" pattern? I'm asking because I'm eventually going to put crawler gears in my case, and it would be great to be able to do the 2-low mod myself! Thanks.

Re: Question for LGL_LMIT

I'll answer this for him.

You'll have 2LO but it won't be in the H-pattern. To have the H-pattern you will have to modify the shifter fork.

It's hard to describe but 2LO will be at a point accessed by shifting into 4HI. Mid point in 4HI press forward on the shift lever and you will enter into a J pattern with 2LO being in the upper right hand corner. Randy Gobleck did a writeup on this for the ORC suzuki page about five years ago-it should still be there.

Re: Question for LGL_LMIT

Saw a post about a split TC shifter mod but can't remember where, but it was available for Toys. Is this a decent option/modification for a Sami?

Re: Question for LGL_LMIT

gi_zuk has it right. I got the info off the IZOOK website a while back and it should still be in there. I had never cracked a case before I did this and was a little intimidated. But it was super easy. What actually happens is you pull the t-case lever back to shift into 4HI. Then as you would normally all the way shift across(and up, for 4LO), you only slightly pull the stick across and you must "feel" for the click then shift up to the midway position. Then you shift across and up. The end result is 2LO. I hoped I explained it alright. So what you have is a modified H pattern, but it works great and the only expense is about 2-21/2 hours of time. If you do it and have any questions feel free to ask. Or if your in the Va. Beach area look me up, I got a couple of cases in my garage I haven't gotten around to yet, we could practice on. Good luck.

Re: Question for LGL_LMIT

I want to know too. It looks like the pictures display how to go to the 2wd low and what happens if you don't go back to regular mode following the shift patern in reverse order.. Looks like once you are in the 2 low, you have to go back to point c, then shift over to d then you have your normal 4wd hi and neutral then 4x4 low patern. the point c is the ticket!

Re: Question for LGL_LMIT

No, you don't lose 4LO. All this mod does is add the new shift pattern. The old shift pattern still exsists. But what I have had to do is shift all the way back to 2HI, then use the j pattern to get to 4LO.
