Re: leak out the oil cap?common?

I would guess that it could be your valve cover gasket or more likely it is your distributor O-ring (where the distributor attaches right at the head). I used orange Permatex and it has never leaked since.

Look into the hole down onto the valve train. It is not uncommon for the small screws in the rails to come out, causing a small geyser of oil to shoot straight up. Maybe the screw right under the oil cap is missing? Just a thought.

Re: leak out the oil cap?common?

My 1988 (early) Zuk was doing the same thing, even after I replaced the cap with a new one from the
dealer... Two weeks ago, I replaced the camshaft/valve cover gasket and did a really good job of sealing it with
Permatex Blue RTV... (A thin coat of RTV on cleaned inside flange of valve cover, pushed the new gasket into
this thin coat... then applied a thin coat of RTV on the outside of new gasket AND applied a thin coat
of RTV to the cleaned edge on the engine wher the camshaft/valve cover sits... I bolted everything down carefully
to specs.. BE CAREFUL... On my 8 valve 1.3, those bolts should be tightened to only 3 to 3 1/2 foot pounds
of torque. DON'T OVER TIGHTEN!! I also replaced the distributor O-ring, $5 from dealer.)

Since then, to my surprise, no oil under my Zuk AND no oil on top either!!!

Re: leak out the oil cap?common?

Make sure your PCV Valve is good, If too much pressure builds up in the engine then it could blow some oil out the cap. (It is the doo-hicky that is screwed into the intake that has a hose running from the valve cover.. ) When you
take it off if you shake it up and down you should hear a
rattle. And check the other things people said.
