VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Zuki gang,
I haven't posted in a while but I have some questions, these are for my stock '87.
Carburetor: Starts without touching gas & revs at about 1500, then increases to 2000 RPM, after warm up settles down to about 1000 RPM. This carb is totally Greek to me, I don't have a manual, any suggestions other than getting rid of the stock carb?

Horn: I tried to replace my stock horn with a louder horn, couldn't get a good horn that was laying in my garage to work. Put old horn back on. Now old horn won't work but HIGH BEAM indicator light comes on when I push horn button. Dome light switch won't light dome light but HIGH BEAM indicator comes on. HIGH BEAM indicator won't come on when I use high beams but they do work. Of course I didn't dis-connect the battery when I was messing with the horn.

Appreciate any help.

Re: VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Well, I'm not sure about your horn problem, but why are you wanting to get rid of the stock carb. from the sounds of it, it sounds like it is performing correctly. It is supposed to idle high until warm and then drop to normal. Just curious

Re: VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Revving up to 2000 RPM's just seems too high but maybe that's normal for this, it does the same thing no matter what the temperature is. I don't really have plans to replace it but I know many Zuki owners have & don't much care for the stock carb. I have no idea how to make any adjustments to this thing. Who makes a good manual that will show how to adjust carb?
Thanks

Re: VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Hey Andy,

You're close to Lonezuk, and also just a few miles from the new Spidertrax location (I think they're at 75th and Hwy 66). There are a lot of folks locally, that can probably help you out (I'm a Sidekick guy, not a Samurai guy - we don't have no steenkin carbeurators).

Re: VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Bob,
I'm not sure who Lonezuk is. I've been by the Spidertrax shop, stopped by once right after they moved from NJ, that's a good idea. I have a friend in Gilpin Cty, lives in the Dory Lakes area.

Re: VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Don't know about the carb(mine does the same thing!!)...but the wierd light, and horn problems are caused by the fuse for the horn (more than likely). The same fuse works the horn, the dome light, and the high beam indicator!

Re: VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Thanks, I haven't even looked at the fuse. Now that the time changed I won't want to do anything after work!
So the carb warming up at 2000 RPM is normal?

Re: VARIOUS QUESTIONS

Yeah that seems normal, and on some cars, with a blip of the throttle in neutral, the choke turns off, but this likely isn't the case with you since you haven't mentioned it.
