Spooked Zook

I have been puzzeled with my Zuk latley. I drive the same road every day, to and from work. On this one section going west on Highway 78 just past Temple GA, my Sammy starts missing. At frist I thought I had a problem. But then all the sudden it stops. Strange I thought. Well now every day on the same 1/2 mile or so streach of road it does the same thing. Sputter, sputter, then it is fine. starts at the same place and ends at the same place. It runs great other wise. I think maybe there something out there spookin my Zook. This is the season for spooks. Oh and by the way there is nothing special about the road other that a slight incline. And it has never done this at any other time. I sure the incline has nothing to do with it because there is not a flat section of road at any place during my comute. I wonder what it is. Oh and it only does it on the way to. Never on the way home. Maybe it is barn sour?

Re: Spooked Zook

Electromagnetics of the Earth... there is a section just off the coast somewhere around where you live that
has been noted for some wierd things..
there is also a section around Argentina or Chile, where the electomagnetics cause satilites to freak out, they
have to reboot the computer or shield it, but that adds weight...
We just put in a hardware self check every so minutes, if no reply, then it sends a reboot command.

there is also so section somewhere in greenland that does this too.

so JHS if you get sucked in to some kind of time warp, and get out, let us know about it.....

electromagnetics has everything to do with orientation.....
we have a tester that will freak out if it is turned 90 degrees from where it is sitting,
hard to explain or measure..
but it will cause some really freaky things.

Re: Spooked Zook

when was the last time you had or did any work on your carb?

When was the last time you replaced your vaccume lines?

there is a line on your distributer that changes your timing.
You have a ton of lines around your carb. one is a choke pulloff and inside your carb there is a temp
accuated choke pull off, if your choke plate gets stuck at a certain time, this will cause the same problem.

I had both sensors go out on my carb 88.5 and had it rebuilt about 6 months ago.
I found that it would have been cheaper to go to Petroworks and get their rebuilt one.

you might want to check your choke when it is cold, check your lines.
let it warm up a little longer and see where it does the annomoly again.

hope this kind of helps.

Re: Spooked Zook

I hav enot done any work other than a cleaning and minor idle adjustments. I changed all the vacuume line on it a month ago but it has done this before then once. I would really like to get a weber and lose all the hoses but I can't afford to. So I guess I will make this work. I will check it next time. Thanks

Re: Spooked Zook

honestly, it sounds like the incline has a lot more to do with it than you think...something isn't running quite perfectly, but not bad enough to notice it until under load...believe me, the Zuk is so underpowered that the slightest inclines make the biggest difference on-road, or in High range...a few times i thought my Zuk was crapping out, because it would slow down and lose RPM's for no reason(the real reason was a slight incline that was barely noticable!!!)...check your wires, plugs, choke, and vacuum lines...should straighten out...

Re: Spooked Zook

I live in the GA mountians. My whole drive anywhere is up and down hills. It only does it on this one hill. And it is not different from any other hill. In fact it is one of the more mild hills. Thanks I will check it all again.

Re: Spooked Zook

Are there any new antenna towers in the area? Find the computer, tucked in behind the glove box, wrap it in aluminium foil and put a little ground wire from it to the body. Also check all your grounds: Body to frame, motor to body, battery to motor. This is what I do for a living in the mainframe computer industry. With electronics and the explosion in mobile communications good grounding is very important.
Good luck
