Heater Sucks!

Hey there, Anyone elses heater not working good? This is in an 89 Sidekick, it just doesn't blow real hot air, and not a lot of it. Whats the highest thermostat I could put in it? It runs below half all the time. Any other mods I could do to get more heat / keep it warmer inside?

Thanks, Jaxon

Re: Heater Sucks!

You heater box is probably full of leaves and crap like what happens to Sammys. Do a search on cleaning them, I think Crowhorse is a nice write-up on doing such.

What about the thermostat? What one would the best one be to put in?

The same as the stock one would be best. Or you can just take it out, and go without.

Re: Heater Sucks!

Taking it out would make it run cooler... I want it to run warmer...

Re: Heater Sucks!

It will run warmer than you are now because it give the coolant less time in the radiator. And less time to cool. But I could be talking out my a$$. No really the stock one is good from everything I have heard and experienced. I am having simular trouble with my heater and I think it is leaves.

Re: Heater Sucks!

I was in denial (as are many) that leaves were the culprit. Until I took out the hole saw and opened it up. Man, it looked like a chipmunk was living in there.
