Rear axle bearings

Anyone have any tips or suggestions that would make it any easier on changing out these bearings? Also is this a common problem or am I just lucky?

Re: Rear axle bearings

Take it to a shop and have the bearing pressed on.

Re: Rear axle bearings

Go ahead now and do the sj410 backing plate conversion. It is covered in the samurai tech section along with part numbers. To remove the old bearing, place the brng on a hard surface (vice or anvil etc.) and hit the bearing with a hammer to break the outer race, remove the balls and retainer, put a clam shell puller directly in the middle of the remaining race TIGHT! then put it in press. Heat the retainer ring and the bearing race as you put pressure on the shaft. It will all pop off and the retainer can be reused or saved for an emergency.
