Tranny Problems

Well I bought a sami the other day with a bad tranny, I thought no problem I got another one so I installed the spare that I had and now the spare is making a growling noise in every gear but 4th. anybody got any Ideas? Also the tranny that I put in had been outside in the back of a parts rig that I got and I had to dump some water out of it not much about 4oz before I installed it I was hoping that it was just was a little rusty inside and would quiet down after driving but not yet I have driven it about a mile. Do yall think I should drive it some more? or pull it out and start finding another tranny?

I can't sleep clowns will eat me.

Re: Tranny Problems

You had to dump water out of it???

Sounds like its time for a rebuild before bearings start falling apart and things get real expensive!

Re: Tranny Problems

Did you consider it being the T-case? Drive it till it is dead and look for a new tranny in the mean time. My screams at me. But it keeps going and going. Still would check the t-case.

Re: Tranny Problems

t case is fine, yea I had to dump water out like I said not much of it but it hasnt been in it long enough to do any damage maybe 3 weeks. had to move it outside about 3 weeks ago. hade the lube drained from it already so there was only H2O. I am going to tear it down here after while looks as though the bearing is out on the main shaft or the input shaft. I am going to call Dave AZ and see if he has the bearing.

Re: Tranny Problems

Stop there. I know a place where you can get the same bearing for about half of what any online vendor charge. It is called Southern Gear. It is in Symrna, GA. Use the online yellow pages at MSN.com to get the #. Or I will give it to you tomm. They ship and I promise they are the exact same kit.
