Re: Head Bolts

About 2K miles ago i pulled my dual miks and their head for emission work and replaced the setup
with the OEM stuff.

I recently had noticed a slight amount of oil film in my radiator and a coolant loss, so I decided to
torque the head bolts. Alas two were loose and one was busted off !!! I do know know why.
So I must pull the head to get to the bolt.

Re: Head Bolts

All head bolts were Torqued to 48 Lbs.

The bolt looked stressed.

Re: Head Bolts

wasnt saying you over torqued them when you retorqued most likey it was done when head gasket replaced the last time .beacuse if they have stress signs they had to be over torqued. unless just bad bolts LOL theres always that chance. make sure you get the head resurfaced

Re: Head Bolts

That is OK !

I have exchanged heads several times using the same head bolts. (Modified head for dual mik and OEM)
It had a salvage title when purchased 5 years ago. The entire front end was replaced, firewall forward.
The engines' history is unknown.
