Aus. Short Course Championships

Hey Folks,

The black duck valley trip was awesome. (what follows is copied from a previous post by coiled on auszook.com)

for all who want to know. damo tried really hard to make it but didnt. as he was coming into gatton he blew a core in his radiator. he tried refilling it to make in to black duck about 20 min away but didnt get more than a couple of minutes down road b4 she was empty. he called RACQ and got it towed to ipswich and and caught a train back to the coast. then went and fixed his car on the sunday. myself, rob, his nav matt, and jasen arrived at about 10am. we found skippy who had set up a lovely tarp for us to shelter under. rob, skippy and i all entered the event. rob in modified and me and skip in std. (air locker disabled). that was going well til i bent a trailing arm. so i retired and skip decided to do likewise. in the mean time rob was showing fully locked patrols how 4wding is down. after the events the mud pit became number attraction. skip was itching to get dirty and try to lose his rice boy status. skip dropped into the mud. all was looking good the crowd was excited. then skip decided to turn around and hit a deep hole at full noise with steering at left lock. not a good idea. the rear wheels came off the ground as we heard a bang and pop. fortunately the only thing he did was pop the tyre off its bead. i pulled him out and we sent him off to clean the [email protected]#t out of his tyre. we managed to get it back on the next morning. after that came dinner. all you can eat roast and veges for 12 bucks. great value. then can the extreme track entertainment under lights. with drinks in hand we set off to watch the carnage. there is a lot of people out there prepared to destroy a lot of dollars in the name of 4wding. after that had finished we went back to camp for more drinks and chats around the fire. a good night for all. the following day was great except for being woken up at 7:30 by kids on trail bikes. off to breakfast of omlette, fried eggs, bacon, sausages (say no if you get offered them). then it was time for the mud racing and RTI. skippy had a ball and rob was looking good til he broke a CV. not to long after we heading home. jasen, rob and skip took a heap of photos and video so hopefully we shall see that on the webpage soon.
thanks to all who came. i had a great weekend

now here's what I said:

well yes it was a f**king great weekend. Lots of drinks and lots of
laughs and lots more carnage.

yeah, you all heard right, I have now lost the rice boy status by
busting a few things and getting dirty.

popping a bead in a really big hole was kinda scary s**t. I dropped
into the mud hole determined to put on a show, however the badly
geared "pregnant dog" wasn't turning the tyres fast enough to clean them and
I drifted up an embackment and back down into a hole with the arse
end nearly climbing over the front(it felt that way atleast).
BOOOOOOoooosh, popped a bead and filled the rim and tyres with mud
and clay.

got that fixed the next morning along with a uni-joint (handy tip, do
these before you leave as they are a pregnant dog to do on the trail).

sunday arvo saw a fun time in the new mud track which was a total
blast. I was getting bored as the thing wouldn't swing into donuts so
I began to make my way around the track (creating my own path *LOL*)
and headed for a very sloshy and deep mud trench which was about
25mtrs long.

The "pregnant dog" made it to within 5 odd metres from the end when momentum
and gearing let me down, AGAIN.

with a quick snatch, thanks to the winch pregnant dog (Andrew) for getting
out and helping, I was out of the trench and into a nice 180 donut to
finish.

I have never had soo much fun and I plan on finishing that d**n
trench when we head out there again on the 3rd of november.

Thanks to Jasen, Mick, Rob and navvy, Andrew and Michelle for an
awesome weekend. Shame you couldn't make it Damo, you'll just have to
wait for the pics this time around.

here are some pics of the weekend courtesy of Rob(the LJ with 35's, coil over a-arm rear, spoa front, 900cc engine), I'll be getting mine developed tomorrow and posted tomorrow night hopefully.

mine is the orange beast that doesn't flex.

popping a bead was scary as the arse end climbed over the top of me (you can see my track to the right of me in the series of pics linked in my previous post).

at least now I know what it's like driving at 100-110km/h with a tyre full of mud, clay and water for about 250km's *LOL*

lots more pics and video coming soon.
