\"SLEEPER\" Samurai Project underway!

Who wants a "SLEEPER" zuk to run around the street in...to blow away those little rice-burner Honda's and Acura's! Check this out:
http://members.home.net/aftermarket4x4/curr_proj.html

This is kool, a 1.6 16v in a stock zuk!! It will be a speed demon! www.Aftermarket4x4.com is putting together a nice little rig for a customer which will be a daily driver. Thought that this might be a nice alternative to the big and lifted zuks and interesting to watch the build-up with day-by-day updates of pictures and installation information.

Re: \"SLEEPER\" Samurai Project underway!

the dogs are the engine replacement, Hahahahahaha..............

anytime you can replace 4 hampsters with 2 dogs means at least 400% increase in power.....

Sean, I am just teasing you.
I have been driving the 16valve samurai around and it is really hard not to totally waste people and leave them in the
dust. a really sweet setup......

Re: \"SLEEPER\" Samurai Project underway!

Project UPDATED 1 AM Wednesday morning. More pic's and installation info. I figured that if the baby is going to stay up this late I may as well make use of the time! More updated daily...Trail Tough Harness is on it's way and the 1.6 to 1.3 oil pan conversion as well as a few other things should be done tomorrow.

Rich, the dogs are my trail buddies. They also love to be in pictures! Believe it or not they always seem to get in the way whenever I have the camera out. The 1.6 liter 16 valve setup is the easiest and BEST swap for any Zuk and it is extemely fast & driveable. Not like a crazy high horsepower motor, just very reliable and responsive....and in my Samurai on 33's I scream past alot of those kids in their little rice rockets with the stickers all over them and their loud exhaust. Do they think that makes them faster? LOL!

So how many places can you go and see your Samurai (or any vehicle) being built step-by-step online????
I just thought I'd be innovative.

Yeah, and don't forget the chrome gas cap! that'll give you at least 5% more horsepower, right? I'm still looking for one for my Sidekick LOL!

Re: \"SLEEPER\" Samurai Project underway!

You guys realize that we all fall into the rice rocket honda and acura area. We are forgien mini trucks. We can even show at the nopi nationals. I realize that most of us could care less. But I am just reminding you that we are all doing the same thing they are. I have seen pic of alot of your zuks and most of them have performance part stickers as well as vendor stickers. I know I do. But I would have to argee that a sleeper zuk is cool. And smoke checking those guys is cool too. But we are for the most part all adults with paying jobs. Most of those honda's and stuff are high school boys trying to get women. And they don't have the finacial resources and skills that most of us have. Just a thought. My .02 Oh yea I had a 92 prelude with stock motor and it would waste any fixed up civic that had the guts to try.

Re: \"SLEEPER\" Samurai Project underway!

Sean,
my children have "cured" me of wanting to sleep too...... whats up with that, they sleep all day and want to be up
all night, what is there to see at night??????

When I finally get out to one of the Suzuki events, I will have to say hi to your dogs, they look like good friends to have with you on the trail.

I have to agree with you on the power of the sidekick engine....
the setup I am driving right now, does not look like it can do much, but it blows darn near any other
person out there away.....

I have had people try to pass me, Not today.....
going from 61HP to 122HP and only 16 lbs of increase weight....

I think that it is really cool to check back on progress on a daily basis

Re: \"SLEEPER\" Samurai Project underway!

I have a low mileage 16 valve and 5 speed from a '98 in my shop waiting for a swap. It's going to be transplanted into a '93 former 2WD Samurai that had never been off the pavement until I converted it to 4WD around this time last year. I plan on starting on it around the end of this month.
