Percolator heater for Sammi winterization....help.

Is there a block drain for the coolant on the Samurai? I want to install a percolator heater, which does the same thing as a block heater, but it heats and pumps the coolant through the engine. Usually you take coolant from the bottom of the block and route it into the heater hose. Does anyone have any experience with this? I need to be winterized here pretty quick. Thanks in advance.

Loose_zuk:

I hope taking my own engine apart qualifies me to respond...

The 1.3 block has no plugs in it (like the Chrysler slant six).

The radiator is both the bottom and top of the system.

So you need to check out preheating systems that connect through the hosing.

Are you talking about a soft plug heater? A dealer option used to be an engine heater that installed into the lower heater hose. I had one on my first Samurai, although I think they are readily available through any part dealer in the colder states.

Cool, I can run it through the hosing, just wanted to be sure I had the bottom of the engine to draw coolant from. The heater I want to put in it is a 1500 watt coolant heater/pump (I just have an inline heater right now). Should keep it nice and toasty on those -60 degree days. Thanks for all the help...
