Narow Track - Wide Track + 5 Link

Has anyone out there gone from narrow track axles to wide track axles?

Also, has anyone then gone from leaf sprung wide track axles to a 5 link coil setup?

I'd be very interested in knowing the level of fabrication needed, any tips, pros and cons. etc.

cheers people.

Re: Narow Track - Wide Track + 5 Link

Going from narrow SPUA to wide SPOA is pretty much the same as doing a regular SPOA.

There are two things to watch:

The first is that the front passenger side spring mount needs to be slightly oversized in radius as it has to ride up the diff housing a little bit.

The second is that the drag link needs to be longer to work with the longer axle. Converting to x-over at the same time fixes that.

Can't help with the coil setup - I can't see how having a narrow inset perch or wide perch frame would make much difference as you are not using those mounting points. The frame rails are the same between narrow and wide track trucks. I'm happy with my OME springs, not interested in going to coils for the little gain it would make.
