Off-Road in NC

Me and a friend went out and did some wheeling this weekend at a spot in Raliegh. We had a blast, there was some great spots to wheel in. Unfortunately, my friend wound up hydrolocking his engine in his Wrangler. We were going across a really deep "puddle" when he lost traction and sank to one side. Apparently, somebody had been through earlier with large boggers and dug out the bottom on one side. His air box had come loose and sucked up nearly the entire pond by the look of his air filter. I wound up having to tow him out of the puddle. We tried to get his Jeep to drain but realized it was hopeless once we saw his airbox. After that I towed him all the way back up the trail and out to the staging area. Lets just say there were some people staring when they saw my Samurai with Jeep in tow coming out of the trail . I must say, I was extremely impressed with my new 4.16 gears I had just installed from RRO. This was my first trip out after having installed them. They never gave up anything! They performed flawlessly on the trail! 4 Low is awesome now! Best mod I have done by far. I attached some photos from the video we took while we were wheeling. Unfortunately, I didn't get any of me towing him out......maybe next time! Enjoy!

"Apparently, somebody had been through earlier with large boogers and dug out the bottom on one side" It was me with my Big Boggers that went thru there! HEHEHEHE Where in Raliegh was this place? When I get back to the states you all have to take a little trip to my place and check out my Zuk project and we can go out on some of the trails in Goldsboro! Sound like fun? Or when I'm done with my project in Jan of 02 I can drive to Raliegh and play in the mud with you all! Just hope we don't get as much snow as last yr! That crap was crazy! Anyway, look me up sometime and shoot me an e-mail! Later

It is a spot just about 10 mintues or so from downtown Raleigh. Lots of trail area, nothing too extreme though. But still a lot of fun. Would love to have another Zook along to ride with.

I want to try to make it to Zuwharrie. If I do come it will be just for the day on Saturday, but things are looking slim right now. Might have to wait til the Spring run.
