Herculiner & Removeable Top ??

I have a removeable top on my parts rig that I want to use on my daily driver. It's grey now and I was thinking of using Herculiner (black) on it as textured finishes are common on removeable tops. I'm not sure if it is fiberglass or plastic. It's a one piece top that has a black band that runs along the bed. Is this something worth considering and would it work (read - be durable) providing the proper prep is done. Any ideas? Thanks....

Re: Herculiner & Removeable Top ??

I Herculined my interior. I had so much Herculiner left that I did the stock roll bar too. I also did a few things on the outside.

I didn't like the way it held up on the outside. The sun really faded it. They say you can just spray "Armor All" (or something similiar) on it and the color comes back. Which it does, but then when it rains you end up with armor all streaks done the side of your Zuk.

Herculiner is very rough. I don't think you'll like the texture for an outside finish. It's great on the inside though. There are several other spray or roll on "bedliner" brands. I know some of them don't have as much "texture" and might be better suited for you application.

If you prep the surface properly you will have no problem with Herculiner sticking.
