Need Specs on YJ Springs

Can you YJ-springed guys give me some measurements please. I need to know the length and the width. Is the same spring used in front as in back? My new Zuk has 'Yota axles with 'Yota springs and I'm finding them much too stiff (big surprise there huh?) I'm hoping that the YJs are close in measurement so that I may just swap them in without doing any real mods.

Thanks.

Re: Need Specs on YJ Springs

Welp depending on your current spring set up, you will be moving at lease one side od the spring hanger. are you using rear toyota springs? cuz their spring pin is offset, While the YJ's are pretty much dead middle. The YJ springs are 2 1/2" wide and roughly 45 1/2" long loaded in the front(My Samurai also has a WARNX8000i) so your's might be different. I can get the length unsprung...but later my other set is buried somewhere!

Re: Need Specs on YJ Springs

Thanks Bill. I'm not certain what the truck's previous owner used for springs and he's at work right now so I won't talk to him until tomorrow. I'm pretty sure he used Toyota springs though. The front spring measures approx 42 1/2" as mounted and is 2 1/2" wide. The rear spring measures 45 1/2" as mounted and is also 2 1/2" wide. The ride is stiff but very stable. It's the rear that is really stiff though. But by your measurements it looks like I may be able to use YJs on the rear. And from what everyone says they should give me a softer ride and flex better too. Thanks for your help.

Re: Need Specs on YJ Springs

If you swap over to YJ springs, try and get 5 leaf packs for the front and the rear. Many of us have tried running the 4 leaf packs in the rear and they are too soft. Very flexible and soft, but you can end up with lots of axle wrap. I believe that zuk88 ended up tweaking a pair on the Rubicon not too long ago.

Yodazuk, Sean did the CJ in the rear and the Zuk rear up front swap.
