Toyota 22R or Zuk 1.6?

Ok I found a guy with 1984 4x4 axles. I can get the rear axle for 100 bucks and the front axle should be about the same cost. He also has a running 22R forsale. I am thinking about using the 22R and maybe a toyota 2x4 truck tranny. Would I need to do a Spring Over to get the 22R to clear the front axle or is this not even a concern. Will the stock sami tcase hold up to the power band of the 22R? Can the sami tcase be built up to handle motors that produce more power? Or would I get the same results going with a 1.6 with header and side drafts? Can the list give me some pro's and cons with the 22R?

well if you do not take the 22r how much does he want?? my friend has a 4 runner that needs a new heart very badly! Well I think it is a good engine cause it is a strong 4 banger and plus it is toyota so as long as you put gas n oil in it it will run its heart out for ya! otherwise everything seems expensive on the engine but I am most like ly lookin in the srong places!

I can,t comment on the 22r conversion, but I'm running the 1600 16 valve and I love it! I have heard alot of people talk about the conversion, but I've never seen one in person. You'll probably have to do the SPOA to get the clearance to do the swap. With the 1600 swap you have to have at least 3" to get it to fit,I have 4" BDS springs and have no clearance issues. the other thing to consider when you do the conversion is that you can use most of the parts from the Tracker/ Sidekick: power steering, axles and seats. Then strip down all of the usable other parts and sell them on Ebay to help offset the cost of the conversion. if you have any other questions let me know.
