Re: i want more POWER

Don't go larger than 2" on your exhaust or you'll actually lose low end grunt. It will cost you power. Don't waste money looking for power in aftermaret distributor caps, spark plugs, etc.

You're biggest bang will come from getting the gearing corrected for whatever size tire is on the vehicle. Beyond that, a header and cam will work great.

We actually have quite a few engine enhancing mods up at

Re: i want more POWER

Oh, right. Well, you can supercharge that little 1.3, or swap in a 1.6 from a Sidekick. All depends on how "adventurous" you are. I've HEARD of people putting small block v-8's in their Sami's - yowie! Bolt on some nitrous, and you'll snap every component in your drive train! Just a reminder, that once you start playing the power game, you've got to keep an eye on all the pieces of the puzzle. The header I bolted on my Sidekick, brings my power up to what an unmodified Sidekick has at sea level (I live at 9,000 feet), so I'm really not stressing my engine or drive train any more than what it was designed for.

Re: i want more POWER

Not in order of importance or expense:
1.Header & 2" exhaust
2.Carb swap...Weber, Pony, Toy...
3.Cam
4.Direct Hits spark amplifiers. I've used these and for the cost & installation time, they proved worthwhile for me.
5.Low restriction air filter... K&N and there are options to this...MegaFlow, filter off the rubber snout, or stock replacement K&N
5.Use synthetic lubricants if your Sami is a canidate for them. If it has high mileage or is an oil leaker, this might not be an option for you.
6. Gearing if needed.... it's not cheap but will put you back to stock performance if you are running larger tires..

This is just my opinion and I'm no expert. These things (minus the gearing) have helped my motors in the search for extra ponies...... Hope this helps....

Re: i want more POWER

I forgot to mention that for any mod to work well, you must have a good foundation to build on. Make sure all is well mechanicaly and everything is up to specs....
