Anyone Interested in an Aluminum Tub?

Some of you might remember I am coming from the Land Cruiser side of the fence. There is a company out of Canada that makes high quality Aluminum tubs for the Land Cruiser. They have been doing this for years. Just about two or three years ago they started to add Jeep tubs to their line. Now I am interested in approaching them about making these tubs for the Samurai. Any takers? Here is their url:

http://www.aqualu.com

Let them know you are interested in their product and when they might be coming out with a tub for the sami?

I thought I was in heaven when I heard that a glass tub was on the way. But aluminium? That's nirvana!

Maybe soon. If we can show enuff interests then maybe they will consider making them for the Sami. Man that would be cool. I am not sure what the sami tub weights but this has to at least cut that in half if not more.

Re: Anyone Interested in an Aluminum Tub?

I see some potential problems here.

First, the dissimilar metal contact will cause corrosion at any points of contact. Also, any copper wire that has a crimp connector at the end will corrode up the copper wire.

The rigidity beams (for strength) in the body will also have to be made of Aluminum.

There are some solutions. I'd use some Ox-Guard, or something similar, that will inhibit the corrosion due to dissimilar metals at all steel mounting points (antennas, body mounts, seats, etc). I'd also use tinned marine wire that is corrosion resistant. Unfortunately that means re-wiring most of the Zuk, or at least the ground connections.

Just wanted to throw a reality flag into the ring for those of you who thought it was nirvana.

The reality flag will unfortunately be the sales price.
