Tranny Mount Upgrade - Success!!

My tranny mount always seemed way to flexy, even when new. I tried using a TH350 mount ($7.50) from Napa and after fabbing a new steel mount (1/4 stock)...Viloa! It's rock steady, yet will flex when the motor torques. Beats nearly $25 for an OEM mount. The new mount had to be drilled to the corresponding holes on the cross member and bolted in place.
It's not my idea, so I don't wish to take credit. I thopught this would be a reasonable alternative for those who's tranny mount seems like jello.
I had to do some welding to "stack" the 1/4 stock because of the disparity in mounting planes. I'm really getting into this welding thing. I'm improving with every attempt.
As a sidenote...while fitting and fabbing, a neighbor whom I know only by casual aquaintance was taking a walk with his wife and infant. He stopped and asked how the wrenching was going. In conversation, it turns out that he is in charge of welding operations for Con Ed (power utillity) and has the largest machine shop on the East coast at his disposal. He extended an offer "if I ever needed welded or fabbed" to me....Woooooooo Hoooooooooo! Needless to say, he and I will be talking again!
Life is good!...........

Thank you for your kind words.....

Another sidenote....I was sent to a job that some months earlier I was thrown off of. It seemed that the GC didn't appreciate my offering him reality checks as he demanded the immpossible. I was a bit apprehensive going back, at first preparing for a battle, then scrapping that and approached it as being non-reactive and very centered. The result.....the GC couldn't have been nicer to me. Walking in the light does work......
Thank you.....
