tach?

what wire does the tach run off of?

i looked in the wiring dagram but it doesnt really show which specific wire it is. i think i might have a bad ground somewhere around there because of the way i was messing with the coil and disti last weekend and how the tach jumps around when idling...

Re: tach?

could a bad ground on the coil screw with my alternator?

i got the multi tester out today and it showed the same thing as my dash mounted volt meter...

when alternator is connected without fuse (no connection to battery) it puts out 15+ volts... does the same thing when alternator is connected to nothing(took wire off of positive post)

when alt is hooked up to battery (with good fuse) it puts out the normal 14 volts... but it constantly blows the fuse after a few minutes of driving

its a brand new (rebuilt) alternator from advance auto parts... i just put it in yesterday

anyone have any ideas as to what the hell is wrong with it?

could the battery somehow be screwing it up? i wouldnt think so because the only time the thing runs normal is when the alt and battery are connected, but i guess it could be
