Toy Diffs: Rear drive shaft question

Specs:
Front drive shaft from a 1981 Hilux 4x4.
GRS transfercase with small flanges 198?, now large rear output flange.

Problem:.................

For all you folks running rear toyota diffs and the front Toyota drive shart in the rear.

Does the zuks rear output shaft extend past the zuk flange and so far into the
Toyota flange that it prevents bolting it up?

Do I have to drill out the center of the Toyota double cardigan flange so
that it resembles the zuk one?

Re: Toy Diffs: Rear drive shaft question

Loner:

What you have now is the large zuk flange, and the small Toy flange. I am not familiar with the small Toy flange, but if the pilot (that lip in the center) is like the large Toy flange, you must machine it down a tad to fit the zuk pilot, then rotate it 45 degrees & drill new holes for bolts. If you disassemble the cardan joint on the Toy shaft, the end you need to modify will have a little shaft sticking out of it - perfect to chuck in a small lathe to turn down that lip.
