Bumpstops: Last Time

At the Fabfest we looked at the bumpstops but I don't remember if you guys said to remove the extensions or not. I think I have no flex on a limited flex Zuke. I understand I don't want to bow the springs negative but this seems too close. Jim

Rear stop. No extension. Should I add one?

Re: Bumpstops: Last Time

Jim, I say get rid of the extensions. You will not need them for daily driving and you dont off-road enough that you will negative arch them. I have never ran them and I havent damaged a spring that way. I just bend and wrap them.

Re: Bumpstops: Last Time

Yeah junk em.
I have SPUA and I regularly bend mine up to the stops (Original stops,) No probs. But for tyre clearance you may need small extensions, say a teflon breadboard cut into
1/2" blocks. Or a body lift. I use a 2" body lift and a hammer to make clearance.
Anyway why have travel if you don't use it all. Right?
What you have must be rough even on the road.
Alfie.

Yes, yank them, they are getting in the way and limiting your flex.

Re: Bumpstops: Last Time

If you want to ignore the bumpstops completely, you can always get the Calmini 5" kit, then you won't ever have to worry about using them. Here is a picture of mine "stuffed" on the new ramp.

And this is the front. Note how Calmini decided to use the fender as a bumpstop on the early 5" models.
