Engine Knock

Might be bad news.. Finally getting the project off the ground. Gotta get smogged, so after tuning everything on the beater it runs just fine. No overheating in tripe digit days, easy starting and good idle. BUT.. it has a death rattle. Accelerating under a load, or in neutral, has a serious knock. Doesn't knock at steady RPM high or low.

Any input on what to check first would be appreciated. Really hoping to band-aid it enough to get smogged.

Thanks

Brian

Re: Engine Knock

When I had my j33p with a bad crank and dummy lights and a knock with no end to it, I used nitro 70 weight oil. That quieted it down lots. I think the lucas oil stuff helps some too. I have it in my zook now but I can not tell any difference.. I think you can nuke an engine by running too heavy of an oil. Something like it is tooooo viscous and can not be pumped in adequite volumes....
