G16 8 or 16 valve?

My qestion is why does Calmini's engine swap kit specify an 8 valve and not a 16 valve 1.6? I've read somewhere that the altenator faces a different direction. Is there a remedy for this?
(body lift is not an option)

I had a bad engine swap attempt in Salt Lake and I don't want to start out with any assumptions this time.

What went wrong you ask?

FYI - Don't assume an 89 sidekick has a 1.6 in it. It wasn't until I was cleaning the block on a stand that the numbers told me it was the same $^#[email protected] engine I had already! I've been afraid to commit to it ever since......

yep! I didn't believe it till I saw an 89 sideflip running a 1300.for the first couple a months the sideflip went into production, they were equipped with the 1.3L, bummer to hear had to learn the hard way. not to sure about the differences between the 8v and the 16v alternators but I do know the the 16V swap has been done - mike

Yes, but the 1300 Sideflips have lower axle gearing. Can't remember if they are 5.34 or 5.62... If you still have the truck you've got your gearing problems solved.
