gosh dern stereo again!

Okey dokey fellars this time my woofers are hasslin me(wish I never bought em now!) you see I remember when I had the crazy idea to put the amp on the roof and rap my wirin around my roll cage as the roll cage then acted like a giant magnet and messed up the sound...so I went ahead and mounted the amp to my box and thought I could rap the ground wire around the rollcage to reach a good ground without having to drill!! The problem now is that my woofers go up and down and sometimes even sound distorted! it is weird cause at first it was like when I accelerated it went down but when I started brakin it would fire back up again now it is goin hay wire just standin still! Any suggestions before I do the honors of just shootin the woofers??!!LOL

Re: gosh dern stereo again!

Wrapping the ground around the cage will have the same effect as wrapping the power wire. Why not just zip-tie it to the cage instead of wrapping it around?

Re: gosh dern stereo again!

<font color=blue> What size amp are you running? What size ground wire are you running? You should be running at least a 10 gauge ground wire and power wire. The ground should be touching bare metal, from the sound of it you are not getting a solid ground because of the paint. Your woofers are fine, if anything you have fried you amp, not the speakers.

I agree. You need a good clean ground.

Re: gosh dern stereo again!

A good ground is a must! I agree with the others... check your amp. I had one of my amps go bad and was puttin' 12V on the speaker output. Good Luck.
