Re: exhaust flames?????

New exhaust pipe has some kinna crap inside (very small amount), prob soot or carbon from the engine and the crap on the tubes. Mine shoots flames too, but I backfire tho... Sorta sounds like a harley sometimes ehhehehe... The stuff should burn off.. Or, you may want to discontinue the use of jp-4 jet fuel

Re: exhaust flames?????

The timing being off a little will often cause backfiring.

Re: exhaust flames?????

just by chance do you have a torque cam? when i rebuilt my engine, i put in high compression piston 20 over and a phase 1 torquer cam. when i timed it back to 10, i shot flames about 8 inches. when i set it to 12. she settled down, and counted out like a john deere. what happens is that with the high comp. pistons and the cam deration, that at 10 the exhast valve is opening just rite a little to early. at 13 i noticed a 5 horse drop so i set it back to 12.
