upper coil spring bracket ???

I just picked up some coil spring parts (for the rear) and I was wondering what I should use for the upper coil spring mount. I want to attatch it to the frame to get a few more inches of lift. any pics or links would be a great help.

Re: upper coil spring bracket ???

Make your own. Flat plate cut round larger than the OD of the coil. Bolt welded in the middle for a screw down retaining plate.

If you want something pre-fabbed, check with shops in your area that sell to circle track racers. They'll carry lots of pre-fab coil spring mounts and such.

Re: upper coil spring bracket ???

Thanks Glen for the reply. I thought without the mount being cupped the spring could move under flex? From how you describe it I would have to make a smaller inner circle to keep the spring in place or would a "J" bolt work to keep everything in place? Am I on the right track????

Re: upper coil spring bracket ???

You can do the inner locator by using a small section of pipe less than the ID of your coil spring.

You might want to take a look at a coil sprung Jeep too. The top of the coil is actyuall not connected. There is a locating tongue about 8-9" long that keeps the spring saddled where its supposed to go.

I have seen this too, but you still need some sort of a cup to hold the spring. See attached file, It would just be easier to make/use a pipe the size of the OD or ID of the spring with a clamp. I'm doing this in the rear right now and have one on my bench out in the garage. I don't have my scanner so your out of luck! but you could drive down here to Oceanside if ya want.

Re: upper coil spring bracket ???

Spidertrax has them pretty cheap, $30 a pair. Sounds like they are just what you need.

Re: upper coil spring bracket ???

I picked up a set of two door tracker coils. Hopefully with the upper coil mount under the frame will give me a couple of more inches of lift.
