I bought a 2nd Hardtop Samurai

Well I finally did it. I broke down (not literally; my Samurai's running great) and bought myself a daily driver after 7 years of using Buster as a dual-purpose (street and trail) rig. I'm now the ecstatic owner of not just my big 87 Hardtop Samurai, but also a baby 86 Hardtop Samurai.

It's a red JX with the early 86 rear seat, cloth interior, dealer brush guard, go-fast chrome strips, and it just passed CA smog. It runs great, and was a steal for $900. The only things wrong with it are that it needs to be washed (no big deal) the interior is worn (the stock seats suck anyways, so they're just going to be replaced) and the transfer case is noisy. Other than that, it has a great body, almost no rust, its a strong runner, and it gets way better fuel economy on the highway than my big one.

I'm going to be keeping this one pretty much stock to use as my daily driver. I'll clean it up, make the interior nice, and save the big one for the trail runs.

Here are a couple pictures of my two Samurai's nose-to-nose.

Looks good, That's a funny pic. I've been carrying a camera at all times lately and looking for a stock Zuki in a parking lot, so that I could park next to it and snap a picture

Damn Geoff, I really wanted to get a hard top vs the soft top I ended up getting, but could never find one...congrats!

BTW, Grants Pass!? I may have to try to hook up with you, you are the closest person I have found yet...I am just outside of Boise.

'87 stock Samurai, lots of work to be done

Re: I bought a 2nd Hardtop Samurai

Hey Spud,

Sorry for the delayed reply, I managed to kill my computer but it's back up and running again.

Anyways, I'm not from Grants Pass, but that's where Mild to Wild Suzuki's is. Also, Trail Tough is in Medford and Hawk Strictly Suzuki is in Merlin, so if you don't mind driving from Boise, there's tons of Suzuki people to hang out with.

I'm now living in the Northern end of the S.F. Bay Area, so if you're ever down here in my neck of the woods, gimme a holler and we'll go 'wheeling!
