plus or minus 2*?

I read a while back about moving your timing either plus or minus 2 degrees to help with spark knock and power increase in your Samurai, but cannot seem to find the info...anyone got it?

Re: plus or minus 2*?

The old method of setting timing is to advance until you start to ping when lugging under a load, say up a hill at low rpm (1500 - 2500) then retard it until it just stops. Be advised this may not pass emissions. It will give you a little more power and / or compensate for crappy gas.

Re: plus or minus 2*?

R/T,

I run my Zuk 1 or 2 degree more than recommended. But I have to run high test (93octane) to keep the engine from spark knocking.

If you're happy with the octane you're using now, and you have spark knock, then retard your timing a little and the spark knock will go away.
