Re: Calmini Shackle Reverse

I'm going to YJ springs. The Calmini kit is great for a daily driver... I've gone from a daily driver to a full time trail rig/part time driver and need some seirous flex (IE...YJs and missing links). I have stock front springs and rears with a add-a-leaf with the over load removed. It worked fine for me until I ran the Rubicon and now it's all about flex.

Re: Calmini Shackle Reverse

Well that explains why yer losing the stock springs, but I still don't understand why yer trashing the s/r with them. Should only benefit the YJ springs.

Re: Calmini Shackle Reverse

My YJ springs are 2.5" wide and won't fit into the Calmini brackets or shackles which are for stock 2" wide springs.

Re: Calmini Shackle Reverse

the zuk springs are only 2in wide, YJs are 2.5 i believe. wont work with calmini s/r kit. plus, need to xtend the frame a lil bit to accomodate the YJs up front. just cant incoperate the calmini stuff into a YJ conversion, even if you convert it yourself instead of getting a kit.

Re: Calmini Shackle Reverse

I know they don't fit into the Calmini s/r, but the extension I am building that bolts up to the shackle towers will accept the wider spring and sticks out forward. If I can "figger" it out, surely you guys can. $50 for the 1/4" flat steel and 2 6" bolts, some drilling, cutting and welding and you ahve the adaptor plates and new shackles for the rear of the spring. It looks real good on paper!

Re: Calmini Shackle Reverse

just my opinion, but much simpler to remove calmini, xtend the frame a lil bit, weld hangers on xtensions. done...
IF a person has fab skills n equipment to do it.
