87 Sami.not running!

Help! New exhaust, new carb, new thermal switch, new computer, coil, oxy.sensor. Runs fine cold, then loses idle and can barely keep it going. New fuel pump. All experts stumped! Jer666

Re: 87 Sami.not running!

Sounds like you may have two vaccuum hoses reversed, let me pull out the Haynes and see if I can locate those lines for you, I had the same prob with my stock carb eyars ago.

Re: 87 Sami.not running!

Yo! I had the new carb etc. running for 2 weeks. Then this problem started. Ran it in to a Zuke specialist. New computer and thermal switch. Ran great for 2 days, and then started again. Tried new carb, etc. No answer as of yet. Thanks, and let us keep trying! Jer

Re: 87 Sami.not running!

Too many new parts your Sam is overwhelmed with all this attention.

Had idle problems with cheap carb switchs.
0.1 amp Omron micro switch replaced both with 5amp Cherrys
Check idle feedback micro switches on carb they send signal
to ECM after temp gets up to control engine idle these
switchs get dirty and or wire and connectors go bad.
Test by manually sending signal monitor engine idle.
Bad switchs show up and intermittant idle control problem.
Two switchs are common 50 cents micros switchs less rubber boot.
Switchs test OK then confrim the two ECM ground pionts are good

Experts working on it then look for simple things...
Loose or broken wires and or bad dist. pick up or loose
Blocked exhaust generating high back pressure
clogged fuel line or filter which hidden over rear
axle pass side. Apply 60" H20 air pressure fuel should
flow out on inlet to fuel pump.
