Diesel Conversions?

I am interested in learning more about doing a diesel conversion. Anyone on the list done one? What are the choice motors to use for the conversion and are there any other trannys that make the conversion a bit more easy.

thanks

Re: Diesel Conversions?

I think that Oilburner has a diesel in his Zuki, and you could probably
talk to Gary at PetroWorks or Glenn at RRO. Gary has a VW turbo diesel
in his Yellow Zuki. He might also be working on a kit form what I've
heard here on the BBS.

Re: Diesel Conversions?

David,
I am currently working on an Isuzu turbo diesel conversion in my LWB. It looks like the engine is going to fit fairly well, but I haven't looked into the wiring aspect of the swap yet. I'll let you know how that goes, but it will probably go very slow. I am not the best when it comes to wiring.

Re: Diesel Conversions?

Unfortunately, the diesel kits are no longer available.

Also unfortunate, anyone that makes a TD or VW kit that sold one of the Keltec systems will be breaking a contract that was signed not to duplicate the system. I would hope those within the Suzuki community considering copying the kit would honor the agreement signed and not be inviting court action unto themselves....

Re: Diesel Conversions?

Cool, more scare tactics from RR. Gary at Petroworks is a good businessman and he's not going to do anything to get himself sued.

Re: Diesel Conversions?

Why would my bringing up a legal agreement being signed in good faith thru an entirely different company be a "scare tactic"? I'm just sharing the inside scoup to give some a peek within the industry and typical 'goings on' behind the scenes.

The bottom line is that anyone who sold the Keltec kit is legally bound not to produce a VW or TD engine kit. Whether they actually break that legal agreement or not is up to them.... Rocky Road included. Am I "scare tactic"ing myself?

Re: Diesel Conversions?

That's a load. Keltec is in the market to sell their kit design to someone with the resources to reproduce it and sell them. If Petroworks starts selling the kit, you can bet it's because they bit the bullet and bought the design from Doug. Unfortunately, Glenn, you're resorting to manipulitive tactics keep people away from your competition. If you wanna get more business, you oughta try improving your custumer service and offer more than negative feedback on this board.

Re: Diesel Conversions?

Glenn does make a valid point about the Keltec Kit. When RR signed this contract they just wrote off all rights to produce a RR kit down the road. Doug had all his distributors sign a no competetion contract basically sucking in all his dealers into a legal nightmare, and tying their hands from ever producing a kit of their own without his permission or royalties given to Keltec.
