Adjusting Valves

With the talk of low compression readings and the such the subject of valves not being adjusted properly came up. I have 60k on my Zuke and have never done it. The thing runs great and under the theory "If it ain't broke don't fix it" I have been reluctant to touch them. Should I at least check them? Or because it runs so good should I not bother with it? There is a how-to at offroad.com that seems straight forward. Is there any tricks or recommendations? Thanks. Jim

Yeah really, what the flip do the valves do when the are out of adjustment besides that anoying click sound..?! Are the valves hard to adjust? What are the benefits of having valves that are adjusted properly?! Bahhh, who needs valves anyways :D!

You should at least check them. you will lose performance and gas milage. Most of the zooks I have bought have suffered from non-adjusted valves. they really do pep it up.
If you plan on bringing your zook to the fab-fest We can help you. It really is a simple adjustment.

Adjusting your valves is very easy. You need a feller gauge, flat head screwdriver, and 12mm wrench. Should take about 10 minutes to do them all. It is something you should check every 50 or 60k for maximum engine performance.

A factory manual gives you the proper adjustment specs. I have no idea if or how the Haynes comic book describes the procedure.
