3/4 lip almost done.......but help?..

Hi again and a Q. to PPillard or anyone else out there.
I have had my zook altered for the 3/4 buggies, but I made the mistake of using my old front zook springs, you know, the factory ones.
Any way they sit dead flat and don't even droop when I need them to.
So I figure i'll get them reset with some bend.
Should I use one leaf or two to three leafs.?
And how much bend should I get put into the leafs ?
Perrys photo of his 3/4 rear shows what looks like a downward bend of about 4-5" from horizontal.
But I don't know if it is weght loaded or not.
Basically, how do I get the most flex out of this mod, and can I get away with my zook fronts ?
Any help most appreciated,
Thanks
Alfie.

they should be flat against the frame with weight on em. if they are not dropping you have another problem. either your shocks are too short, or you have overtightened something. a stock sammy spring will drop from the weight of the axle. pillards are pretty long too . how long are yours.

Hi Bill thanks for the reply,
I was wodering whether they should be flat or not.
I cut my springs at 23" same as Pillard.
I think the guys over engineered the way the springs are anchored maybe.
They made a clamp about six inches long. So shortening the amount of spring left to flex.

Yup sounds like you need more spring hanging out and check to see if anything is binding I used sami factory rear main leaves and mine droops excellently.

Since you have done this thing, what method of anchor did you use ?
Drilled holes and bolts through springs or what?
Thanks
Alfie.

HELPFUL HINT ! USE TWO BOLTS T HOLD EM BUT DONT USE CUTTIN OIL WHEN DRILLIN. IF yOU DO, YOU WILL HARDEN THE SPRINGS. make sure your bit is sharpened correctly and use ice to lube and it;ll go through pretty quickly.

Re: 3/4 lip almost done.......but help?..

Thanks Bill,
Thought I'd use one bolt a couple of inches in from the spring end, and then a strap of steel bar across at the end with two bolts outside of the spring to clamp it tightly.
So, the spring will be sandwiched at the end between two pieces of steel, with two bolts outside of the spring, and then another inch along it will be drilled and bolted.
That make any sense ?
Alfie.
