Rusty Balls.........

Well I was tearing down my front end to re-install perches for the YJ springs.
I have put the springs inboard or inline with the front frame rails if you will. So the perches have to be moved in 1.5 inward (each side)and I wanted to have them the full width of the spring as well. Driver side no prob, but the pass side is goingup the pumpkin somewhat....
Anyway take a look at the ends (ball) where the rubber rotates on it!!!
Not a pretty sight in the land of RUST huh?
The next reply will have the rubber gasket.

Re: Rusty Balls.........

Danny, why are you moving your springs inboard? I don't think that is a good idea, you are going back to a configuration like the old 410 model. With them moved inboard, you are going to experience more body roll and an increase of instability. Breeze in Canada will not install their 5.5" perch on a 410, only a 4.5" perch as the higher it goes the more prone to roll over it becomes. Make sure you re-learn it's handling characteristics as it will be significantly different.

Re: Rusty Balls.........

Tim
I understand what your saying and I tend to agree with you (or Breeze). But I don't find the move to be that significant. I did it to avoid going to 2" offset wheels and keep the tires off the springs. the perches are only 1/2" over stock anyway.
One thing that I didn't take into consideration is the fact that if I wanted to got to Toy axles (I have lots!!!) the spring will be half way up the pumpkin'.
Anyway my record for keeping trucks is not so good so I can always do another......
By the way i still haven't picked up the shocks you sent at the warehouse YET!!!
