zook spool from randy\'s ring & pinion ...

hey guys, good news, i just talked to randy's ring and pinion today. they expect to have the zook full spool on the market possiblt in 30 days for around $130 bucks!!! they are concerned that there will not be enough demand. boy are they wrong. if your interested in this spool please call randy's and let em know. they will just get it done that much quicker and possibly cheaper. let's show em that zooks will soon rule the world.

is there a benefit for a spool over a locker? For an extra $40 dollars you can get a locker and not have to worry about re-setting up the ring and pinion.

a spool is harded on the tires than a locker but you don't have to worry about it locking and unlocking. it is locked period, works great on the trail and gets lots of looks running around town. i have put about 17k on mine since i welded it up and it works like a champ. but if they can come up with a spool for that kind of money i would recommend it. later mike

I think the idea is there's less to break. (And hopefully cheaper.)

It sounds reasonable, for a trail only rig.

Spools will sell well. We get calls regularly for them. I spoke with Randy and gave him our support on the production and promises for qualities.

The word I get from them is that pricing has not been set yet. Coiuld be $100, could be $200. They're also about 6 months out. Don't expect to see any on the market before mid-Winter next year.

As soon as we have any new news though, we'll post it.

Re: zook spool from randy\'s ring & pinion ...

I would definately be interested in one. I was planning on just going ARB's front and rear because I want more of a solid lock than a LSD. I just didn't care for spending that much to lock it up. I was considering welding the rear, but with that kind of price, I will spool the rear end.

hey rro, you might wanna check back with em. they are developing some hardened gears for the zook and decided to bump up production of the spool to truly test the new gears.it's my understanfding they already have a prototype to be installed in on asap.
