EGR=Extemely Grand Rip-off

I just talked to the dealer and a new EGR valve for my sami is $129.00. What a bunch of crap! I could buy another entire carb for less than that.

Is there anyone out there with a used one in good condition they would sell me CHEAP? You aftermarket carb users don't need them any more any way right?

Re: EGR=Extemely Grand Rip-off

i think as long as the flang moves freely it should be ok... according to the FSM, it is supposed to move one way on acceleration and the other way on deceleration... mine doesnt move at all

Re: EGR=Extemely Grand Rip-off

I had promised AM I would send him mine once I had determined for certain that I could simply plug that hole and get away with it, but someone has been implying to me that if I do that my vaccuum will be too positive and performance will suffer on my Weber. Any help on that one BillyBob?

Re: EGR=Extemely Grand Rip-off

I've had mine blocked off for quite some time and the Weber still rocks!

Re: EGR=Extemely Grand Rip-off

Hey, why don't you try to clean it up first...usually they quit not because they're broken; it's the carbon deposits that "seize" the moving parts inside or just block the passage. For $130 I would try to take it off and dip it in WD40 for overnight or so. Just my .02

Hope it helps

Re: EGR=Extemely Grand Rip-off

Does removing the EGR valve help engine performance at all?
