SJ410 Grill Install

I picked up a SJ410 grill (the one with the jeep-like slots). Can anyone give me any pointers on how to install it on
a Samurai? Is there a write-up anywhere?

Thanks,
James Hiers

Re: SJ410 Grill Install

To my knowledge, there isn't any write up as yet. The biggest problem is removing those Suzuki phillips head screws. I've tried almost every method suggested to remove them. The most sucessful was applying heat to them to soften the locking compound. If you are not going to use the original grill again, don't be afraid to damage it. The 410 grill needs some minor modifications. Just above the headlights, a small portion of the grill on the top/back will need to be removed. The hood catch opening will have to be made larger and the hood catch spaced out a bit. The headlight trim rings can be used from the original plastic grill if you cut them away and secure them using srews. The 410 headlight trim can be used by cutting the tabs from the back mounting points and drilled for your screw of choice. When installing the 410 grill, it will be obvious what exactly needs to be done. I've used a 4 1/2 grinder, and a dremel rotary tool with cut off wheels to modify the new grill. It's worth the effort. The 410 grill looks awesome!
