Fuel trouble 92 tracker

I have a 92 geo tracker. I came out of the store a couple weeks ago and it started just fine ran for about 30 seconds then the gas just cut off. Fuel injector tested fine. We replaced the fuel filter. If you put gas in the injector it runs till the gas evaporates. Wondering if there is a fuel cut off switch on the 92 trackers any help would be great. I don't have the owners manual. Julie

Pony up for a manual - maybe the engine codes will tell you what's up.

Julie, I doubt the owner's manual will address that problem. Perhaps a shop manual would help for do it yourselfers, but it's alot of money and will no doubt need need more diagnostic tools as well. I'm sure someone here will come up with a solution, be patient before you throw more $$$ at it!

Re: Fuel trouble 92 tracker

Julie, you don't mention the specific characteristics but I found a couple things others have posted:

"We have/had that same problem with my 1991 Tracker. It turns out, that it wasn't the fuel tank pump....
But it was an "open" burnt wire on the cables that lead to the battery..(meaning that one of the wires on the cable was exposed, so it burnt).

that link is particularly good. Check it out.

Re: Fuel trouble 92 tracker

husband is not here at the moment but I do know that it does get gas in the hose up to the fuel injector but the injector doesn't work he did test it and says it is good but something is preventing injector from working. Some people have said the ECM might be bad. Very expensive to replace! Hoping it is something else. Julie

Re: Fuel trouble 92 tracker

I was kidding. Sorry
Did you check to see if you are building pressure. Incectors require a certian amout of pressure to work. There should be a small valve before that looks like a tire fill valve. You can get a pressure reading from that. This might sound dumb but when our other Car I won't mention the make due to the list we are on. Anyway it did exactly what yours is doing and it was out of gas. The gauge read over a 1/4 tank but there was no gas. It took a Mechanic(warrenty) 4 hours to figure it out. I was very embarresed.
