Re: Virus

I got a virus yesterday. Someone sent me an email with an attachment. I tried to open the attachment but luckily hotmail has a virus detecter so it scanned it and did not open it for me. The person who sent me the virus knew my address some how. Some people are just plain evil.

DONT OPEN EMAIL ATTACHMENTS FROM PEOPLE YOU DONT KNOW. DONT OPEN ATTACHMENTS FROM PEOPLE YOU DO KNOW UNLESS YOU EXPECT THEM AND KNOW AHEAD OF TIME WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. (repeated until blue in the face) People who blindly open email attachments are just begging to get a virus.

the current round of worms takes your email address out of the persons address book and sends the email to you itself. The person from whom it came probably has no idea it even happened, so dont blame them (except that they probably opened and email attachment, too)

Re: Virus

Take the advice offered by daxe at face value. Attachments are dangerous.

Re: Virus

The way the Sircam32 virus operates, he will eventually find out and stop it, don't try to respond becuase if he has 50+ people in his email list, then he probably won't receive your email telling him about the virus because his incoming mail server is full. The virus sens out apporximately 8 emails to each person on your list, and most ISP's do not allow private individuals to send and receive that much email becuase of anti-spamming measures. just sit back and wait, he'll figure it out when he gets all these returned mails from corporate servers that won't accept his email.
