Skid plate

Well I installed my new hardcore 4x4 skid plate and hooked up with some friends and hit the trail. It was nice rocky wash I've been up a few times in the past without too much trouble. I don't even know when the hit occured but I now have a nice dent in the skid plate! Looks like I hit it where the cutout is for the cat, the bad thing is if I didn't have the skid plate I wouldn't have hit anything! I'm just disappointed that it proved to be so easily dented, it looks and feels beefier than that. Now I'm thinking I might have to try one of those tbuckets instead.

Re: Skid plate

Well I don't have a hardcore skidplate but One I built like it, I built it becuase I kept hitting the exhaust and cracking
header gaskets. If you want an un-dentable skidplate I don't know of anything but 1/2" boiler plate that will help ya.
Or you could make one out of a 3/8" or 1/2" piece of aluminum?

Re: Skid plate

Thats one of the reasons I made the bucket to start with. I had my goals I wanted to have for the NWRCA Rock crawl.
1. Way strong Case mounts
2. protection for my $1200 GRSII!
3. more ground clearence
4. And still making it light weight(less than half of a ConnFerr belly).

Re: Skid plate

I still don't think it should have bent from a hit I never felt! The bucket is sounding more like what I'm looking for. I have the RRO super beef mounting arms, is the arm on the bucket just as beefy? I really need something that can take on the AZ rocks!!!

Re: Skid plate

Well the bucket comes with "beefed arms" They way it is made, there is no way the mounts will bend.
