Backup light stays on

Anybody have this problem. My backup lights didn't work for the longest time till i found out that the previous owner had unplugged them in the engine compartment. So i plugged them back in and sure enough they worked... nice and bright too. But then they wouldn't turn off until I shut off the lights. What gives?? Is my switch just getting stuck or something? I finally just unplugged them again. Any hints???

Re: Backup light stays on

This may sound stupid but are you sure that the right socket is in the backup light spot? The backups come on when you shift into reverse whether the lights are on or not. If they are in the right spot something seems shorted or,as with most Zukes, there is a ground problem. Check all the ground areas.Good luck. Jim

Ooops. Good point. I didn't even think about that. I'll double check. I didn't bother to check at the time. Thanks.
