R&P

Ok i think i am ready to get some gears i'm running 31s and my engine is hating it i'm haveing the hardest time finding 4th gear let alone 5th. So here is the deal i am going to go with RRO's 4.57. It says 210 a set does that mean front and rear. Is this a good gearing to go with or should i go to 5.38.

Re: R&P

That's $210 per diff/set. You will need two sets. I would think 4.57 would be good for 31's. I have read and heard that you would be wishing for a 6th and 7th gear running 5.38's with 31's, especially if you have a 4.16 t-case.

Re: R&P

As perry says with 31s and 5:38 you rev alittle but I figure it's like 4630 rpm or so. That is not high for a Sami.
I have the Calmini 5:43 (Same as I think)with stock transfer case, revs are OK but am getting a 4:16 transfer set as soon as i'm over my suspension fetish. (If ever that is) Present is about 4150 at 100KPh (62.5 Mph) 4650 rpm is chicken feed to a Zook, had a transfer case in a while back that was 5250 at 100Kph (62.5mph) that was too much for everyday use.
Under say 4800 rpm is cool i reckon. Over 115 Kph with a modified truck is like Lotto anyways.
Wanna go fast ? get a ferrari.
But no way will you keep up with a Zook in the long haul, eh?
Alfie.

Re: R&P

Why go with RRO at $210 per R&P for the Yukons (US Gear) when you only pay $185 per R&P for the Yukons (US Gear) at www.northcoastoffroad.com

Re: R&P

That is a very good question! Hey Tim, I'm getting your counter gear in the mail this monday. I got my Calmini gears you sent me installed and they ROCK! I also got the birfield rings and Lockrite installed in the front. WHAT A DIFFERENCE, especially since I welded the rear till I can afford an ARB. Thanks for the great service and cheap prices! You can bet I'll be a return customer!

Re: R&P

I have 5:38s in my zuke along with a 4.3 engine-350 auto and a 4:16 T case.I run 33" Boggers. My point is I was passed by a farm tractor while at the Melt.My top speed is around 35 to 40 MPH.If its a daily driver dont use the 5:38s,my two cents,RR

Re: R&P

Anthony,
If it were me I'd go with the YUKON gears from North Coast Offroad. I think that they are cheaper than $210/ set.
