Transfer case pics?

Does anyone have any pics of the inside of the transfer case used on a sidekick sport? It's the one that bolts right up to the tranny with no driveshaft in between. I rounded out the fill plug, and I was hoping I could grip it from the inside and get it out. Thought about an easy out, but didn't want to go drillin' without knowing what's behind that plug. I ended up taking the shifter out and pouring the fluid in that hole, but I'd really like to get that plug out:-(

Re: Transfer case pics?

Were talking about the style of plug that has a 3/8" ratchet fits into, right?
I don't think that you'll be able to grip the plug from the inside. What if you weld a short 3/8" bolt into the hole that the ratchet fits into to remove the plug? The heat may loosen it a little too.

Yeah, it's the plug with the square hole you put a ratchet in. guess I could try welding a bolt on, shouldn't do too much damage if it doesn't work.

Re: Transfer case pics?

if you have a ratchet extention, try using something to jam inbetween the square flange or somthing... like put a fork or a shimm in there to make the connection on the extention to the rounded bolt real tight. You may also try a large allen wrench. Those bolts are kinna tight sometimes.... It is best to use one of the extentions that do not have the spring loaded ball in them

Re: Transfer case pics?

The square hole in these plugs is 10mm witch is slightly
larger than 3/8",.394" vs .375".Thats probably the reason
you rounded out the hole.I bought a special tool for using
on these plugs,It's the proper size and slightly undercut
to keep it from popping out of the hole.I think I got it at
Napa.
