My adventure home...

I should have known the ride home from Zookimelt wouldn't be easy when we had a torn valve stem on the Sami. But, things got worse...

In Ohio one of my tow points on the Sami broke loose and the car was all over the place. Luckily we had pulled off of the highway to get something to eat when it happened. If we had been traveling at 70mph I most likely wouldn'y be here right now! I had to drive the Sami home from Ohio to Maryland. Between trying to get a valve stem replaced on a Sunday and a 50mph drive through the mountains, a 12 hour trip suddenly became 20 hours...

At least I can say someone was looking out for me for the tow point to have broken in a parking lot as opposed to the highway!

Re: My adventure home...

Well if its any consolation there Capn, I lost the muffler to my folks truck someone in Morgantown West Virginia, the truck died in the middle of the construction zone in Columbus, and we had to pull all the wires under the hood and reseat them and the truck came back to life (thank god).

Anyway had a really good time and look forward to doing it again next year.

Re: My adventure home...

We had a simular thing happen to a rig in our group. Everyone has chains from the tow bar to the tow rig but most dont put chains from the tow bar to the sammi. I think I will be doing that from now on

Re: My adventure home...

I had a chain (15 feet of it, double wrapped) but it was still bouncing aroung like a puppy on fire. It scared the hell out of me. Luckily I remember someone saying don't jam on the brakes if the tow point goes so I just coasted to a stop. The rental truck has a small dent which I think can be covered with dirt before I take it back. The tow bar was bent to hell so it went back to PepBoys. The lady was a little dumbfounded.
