Re: Starter

Every Samurai starter I've seen is a Mitsubishi. If you look around the engine compartment you'll find some more parts are also.

Re: Starter

lilsami88, try hooking up with Suzuki John. His web site is http://suzukijohn.hypermart.net/ He has lots of OEM and used parts. Right now his starter is $70 with core trade-in; $95 without trade-in. I am needing a starter as well for my 88 1/2 Zuk, just haven't taken it out yet. Mine is taking about four or five quick clicks of the ignition before it catches and fires up. One thing that worries me is that when it rains really hard, nothing happens when I try to start it. I hope a new starter fixes the problem and it is not a short somewhere in the electical wiring.

Re: Starter

lilsami88,
You didn't describe your problem... If it's the clicky thing then you do not need a starter... Zookies have a very weak relay used to energize the starter.... From what I hear most zooks suffer from this dilema sooner or later... If it is clicking and not cranking then you need to wire up an external relay and bypass the stock unit ( only about 13$ ).... Do a search back on the bbs and you will find all the info you need to do this... rodnee

Re: Starter

well my bro had something like this problem on his durango...no it was not the solenoid not the alternator and not the starter..............IT WAS HIS BATTERY!!! the guy who checked it out said that it was right in between dying and just making it!! So first things first just check that and if it is not it might be your solenoid and not that then I would have to say that it is starter related whether it be in the coils or in the starter itself??!!!

Re: Starter

That may be so on a Durango but, the last three sammy's that I have worked on with starter problems have all had the same problem..... RELAY... sounds like a problem inherent to the zook to me.....rodnee

Re: Starter

I was not saying that cause it happened to his durango that it would happen to a zuk! I was just trying to give an idea of what it might be??!
