? on model year

howdy,
I have an 88 sammi. the production date is 3/88. it has the newer dash (square vents), it's a JX. I also have a nother 88 sammi that has the production date 3/88, but it has the old dash (round vents, clock, f--king radio box). So does the JX of that year come with the better dash or was this sammi ahead of it time.
(i bought it off my uncle, the newer dash one, I remember the day he brung it home. He didn't change a thing, looks wise that is. He is also the 1st owner and I'm the last.)

Re: ? on model year

The 88.5 had the square vents while the 88 and pre had round. The 88.5 also had the round spoked wheels the pre had wagon wheels. The year not the package made the difference. Jim

Re: ? on model year

they didnt change to efi untill 91 or 92 i believe... they produced 88's and 88.5's at the same time so it was possible to buy either one at the time... i have an 88 JX with the round holes... i kinda like it better... i would like to find something cool to replace the clock though (its broken)

Re: ? on model year

i recently installed a volt meter that probalby would have fit, but i was in a hurry and just attached it to the side of the radio box... worked out better cause it was closer to the dash light wires... speaking of dash light wires, when i wired this volt meter, something weird happened... on the back of the dash switch, there were two hot wires.. one is hot whenever the headlights are on, and the other is adjustable, so you can adjust the brightness... well, i hooked up the volt meter to the adjustable wire, and it was inverted... was dim with the dash lights bright, got bright with the dash lights dim... any idea what happened there? i ended up just useing the other wire that was hot as long as the headlights were on since i never dim the dash lights anyway...

Re: ? on model year

if you don't have a tach. get the 2 5/8" tach and stick it where the clock is. rite above the stick shift is great.

Re: ? on model year

88.5 also had a softer suspension and a different 5th gear. Jim
