Springs

I am close to relocating my rear shock mounts, and buying longer shocks.
Thought I should find out more about the YJ or are they CJ spring conversion everyone on this board was talking about a while back
Can anyone give me the low down on what is required please?
I looked back but can't find anything on it.
I currently have OME + 2" springs with Revolver shackles. And a 2" body lift.
Alfie.

That's a pretty broad question base. If you have specific questions on either the CJ and/or YJ spring swaps, you can email me direct at [email protected]

We've done quite a few Samurais over the years with both types of spring swaps (not to mention others as well).

Re: Springs

well hopefully I can answer some of it...the springs are way wider than the and way longer than stock....I made a design to use them by using discount auto shackles...these can be used cause they are a 2 piece design! you would take 2 of these for each side...bolt one up to the hanger towards the bumper..weld it to the bumper or frame or something to hold it as if it were resting on the bumper...you are running revolvers so I think from here you could use them but like I said they are wider than stock! never looked at a revolver that close before though!

Re: Springs

I'm not sure I'd recommend going strictly by that drawing and instructions.

Re: Springs

Studly - Sometimes you scare me with your automotive CAD drawings compliments of MS Paint! That drawing looks like a disaster waiting to happen.

The YJ springs are 46" eye to eye and 2.5" wide. You couldn't use the Revolvers anymore because of the spring width plus the YJ conversion really flexes enough on it's own. You would need new driveshafts as well. Try doing a search and include 'CSC YJ' and you should come up with enough hits.

Re: Springs

Just for something to think about, I read on a samurai site (don't remember which one) that it is possible to "knotch the eye ends of wrangler springs (and others) to 2" to get them to fit the standard Sammi shackel width. The trick is to cut the spring very slowly as to not heat up the spring and ruin it. Personally, I would not do it, but it may be an option for a budget trail only rig.
